Vintage Appeal at the Sinclair Depot

The Sinclair Depot, an antique store/event venue hybrid, makes finding your ‘something old’ easy.

Just when we thought we’d seen it all in the realm of unique wedding venues, the Sinclair Depot surprised us with a new idea: antique-store weddings. Adjacent to the family-run Preferred Antiques in Northeast Minneapolis, the Depot features 5,000 square feet of warehouse space in addition to the one-of-a-kind finds that can be rented or purchased for events.

The Depot was built in the early 1900s, when it was used as Sinclair Oil’s headquarters. Since then, the space has seen new life as an art gallery and, for the past six years, as an antique shop. But with its original brick, arching cedar beams and open, airy feel, owner Brad Racutt wanted to show it off to more than just the antiquing crowd.

Racutt and his family added massive chandeliers, a gorgeous reclaimed bar and a stage for a DJ or band to make it wedding-ready. The 350-person-capacity venue is perfect for those looking for a nontraditional venue that people haven’t seen before. And with vintage odds and ends housed right next door, décor is a snap.
